Every time a holiday or festival comes around, we always rack our brains trying to find practical yet thoughtful gifts for our parents. With the Spring Festival just around the corner, what kind of unique and meaningful gift should we give our parents this year?
Just like that famous slogan, "When giving gifts, give the gift of health." Thinking about how our parents' mattress in their bedroom has been there for 10 years already, I decided to buy them a brand-new one.
While browsing at the Donble Mattress specialty store, I hesitated for a long time: I’d heard that middle-aged and elderly people sleep better on firm mattresses because they’re good for the back, but softer mattresses feel more comfortable against the body. I just couldn’t decide which one to choose. Ultimately, keeping my parents’ sleep habits in mind, I went with the firmer, spine-supporting Donble Mattress "Snowflake" model.

When I first received it, I’d describe this mattress as "unassuming"—it’s incredibly simple, with a crisp white front and subtle charcoal-black edging around the edges. The square quilted design is perfectly flat, giving it an instantly hard-and-solid feel at first glance.
The front of the mattress is perfectly flat and spacious—when you sit on it, it feels firm and supportive, with absolutely no sinking or sagging. After my parents tried sleeping on it, they were thoroughly satisfied. However, for someone like me—a "thin person"—it’s actually too firm—it ends up feeling uncomfortably hard against my hips.

Then there’s its knitted fabric—so smooth to the touch, with a cotton-like feel—and it’s incredibly stretchy, making it resistant to wrinkling or losing its shape. I even lay down on it for a while myself, and I found that it offers excellent heat dissipation and breathability.
There’s also a four-week black border, made from Khmer textile thread with perfectly neat stitching—no loose threads or other imperfections whatsoever. When I pressed my hand firmly into it, I could even feel a gentle breeze blowing through—clearly, this mattress offers excellent breathability.

Overall, taking advantage of the pre-New Year big clean-up, gifting your parents a new mattress isn’t just sure to put a smile on their faces—it also carries the auspicious meaning of leaving behind the old and welcoming the new, making it a truly "heartwarming" New Year gift.
