In first- and second-tier cities where land is incredibly valuable, many small-sized bedrooms face the challenge of difficult decoration. How can you perfectly equip these compact spaces with essential furnishings without making the bedroom feel overly cluttered?

Our guest room at home faces exactly this issue— it’s only 8 square meters. We’d love to fit in a few more pieces of furniture, but since we don’t want to hire a designer to knock down any walls, we’ll have to tackle the bed situation first.

A 2.5-meter-wide small room—would you go for an 1.8-meter-wide edge-to-edge bed, or a 1.9-meter-wide canopy bed? As an essential piece of furniture in the bedroom, the bed should be chosen to maximize space efficiency.
