Everyone knows that everything has an expiration date—so naturally, once it’s past its prime, it can no longer be used. After all, we use these things every single day. Mattress No exception—many people feel that my Mattress It’s not true that as long as it’s not broken, it can keep being used—or even that as long as you can still sleep on it, it’s fine. In fact, a mattress is like your towel: it needs regular cleaning after a certain period and should be replaced after prolonged use. Otherwise, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria. So, how often should you actually replace your mattress?
According to a survey conducted by a relevant research organization on "mattress usage duration," in China, 50% of consumers only replace their mattresses when they’re completely worn out. Meanwhile, 19% of consumers have been using their mattresses for over 10 years, while those who’ve used them for 5 to 10 years account for 29%, and those who’ve relied on them for 3 to 5 years make up 19%.
This clearly shows that most Chinese consumers lack the proactive mindset to replace their mattresses—many seem content simply to keep sleeping on them, no matter how worn or outdated they may be. But let’s face it: this attitude couldn’t be more misguided!

How often do you need to replace your mattress?
A good mattress can last for 9 to 10 years, but over time, prolonged wear and heavy pressure can cause the internal springs to lose their original elasticity. As a result, the mattress no longer contours properly to the body or provides adequate support, leading to an unnatural curvature of the spine and excessive pressure on the shoulders, neck, and hip bones.
The practical recommendation is to replace your mattress every 6 to 8 years, as the structure of your body naturally changes with age—such as developing degenerative conditions in the lumbar spine. At this point, switching to a new mattress becomes essential to meet the evolving physiological needs of each stage. Moreover, neglecting to replace an old mattress regularly can turn it into a breeding ground for dust mites, bacteria, fungi, and mold, potentially triggering various infectious diseases and skin conditions.
