Do you still remember what your childhood mattress looked like? From the wooden plank beds of the '80s, to the handmade spring mattresses of the '90s, and now to today’s latex and 3D mattresses—each transformation has mirrored advancements in technology and a steady improvement in people’s quality of life. Donble Mattress, a 31-year-old local brand from Dongguan, has been right there, witnessing three decades of evolution and growth in the mattress industry.

In the early 1990s, people’s spending levels were still relatively low, and their demand for mattresses was limited to simply "functional" products. In 1993, riding the wave of China’s reform and opening-up policy, Donble Mattress entered the bedding manufacturing industry. The company’s first-generation mattress, produced at that time, featured a spring core, gray fabric, and snake-skin bags—crafted using rudimentary techniques such as binding with thick iron wires and hemp threads, followed by manual stitching.

From 1998 to 2003, China's mattress manufacturing capabilities saw significant improvement, as mechanized processing technologies began to be adopted. Coconut fiber emerged as the industry's mainstream choice for mattresses due to its health benefits, durability, and low cost. However, its high hardness and lack of elasticity also somewhat impacted the overall sleep experience for consumers.

From 2003 to 2008, to meet the growing consumer demand, Donble Mattress replaced traditional coconut fiber with a more eco-friendly and health-conscious aerated rigid cotton. They also incorporated new materials such as high-density sponge and environmentally friendly white cotton felt, successfully developing a next-generation eco-friendly mattress that significantly enhanced both comfort and sustainability.

A small mattress carries the dreams of countless people. As economic standards continue to rise, people are increasingly striving for a higher quality of life. Since 2008, competition in the mattress market has intensified, with innovative materials like natural latex, memory foam, and wool-infused wave cotton constantly emerging. Yet, as mattress thickness and filler levels increase, their breathability often suffers as a result.

To address the industry challenge of poor breathability caused by overly thick mattresses, Donble Mattress has actively introduced advanced technologies from both domestic and international sources, successfully developing a next-generation product—the 3D mattress. Not only is the 3D mattress environmentally friendly and offers the perfect balance of softness and firmness, but it also boasts exceptional breathability, ensuring users enjoy an even more comfortable sleep experience.

From coconut palm mattresses to firm cotton mattresses, and now to today’s 3D mattresses, what has changed are the materials and technology—but what remains constant is Donble Mattress’s original commitment to crafting exceptional mattresses. Donble Mattress will always uphold the philosophy of healthy sleep, delivering superior bedding products to consumers worldwide.
